Initial Site Appraisal

A high-level site assessment to identify potential geotechnical risks.

Usually taking place before the land acquisition, the Initial Site Appraisal occurs early in the planning process.

The appraisal of available site information is aimed to provide a high-level assessment that determines the site’s suitability for a specific development and identifies potential geotechnical risks that could hinder the design. An Initial Site Appraisal is a crucial step towards mitigating the site’s risk and planning the next stages of the design.

Depending on the proposed developments and the appraisal findings, the following stages could entail a Phase 1 Desk Study, Site Walkover, or a detailed Ground/Site Investigation.
